Primary Bathroom Remodel | Maitland, FL

This Maitland primary bathroom remodel started with a mystery. For two years, the homeowners had been chasing a mold smell coming from upstairs. Different contractors and mold remediation companies came through and nobody could identify the source. When we came out, we found it in an upstairs shower. We resolved it, did such a thorough job, and left such a strong impression that the clients decided to hand us their primary bathroom as well.

What we walked into was a full early 2000s bathroom that had never been touched. Dark cherry wood cabinets with black hardware, a corner jetted tub with diamond tile accents, dated travertine floors, and a shower that matched the era throughout. The room had good bones, including a stunning arched window that floods the tub area with natural light, but everything else needed to go.

The new vanity package is a his and hers configuration built from matching cabinet sets with fillers, scribe molding, and crown molding that gives the cabinetry a fully custom built-in appearance. The cabinets are painted in a soft sage green with raised panel doors and chrome hardware throughout. White quartz countertops with subtle veining top each vanity, and each side has its own undermount sink with chrome fixtures. A warm wood framed mirror with arched detailing hangs above one vanity, flanked by a three-light chrome vanity bar. A tall linen tower cabinet sits beside the vanity adding storage without taking up floor space.

The corner jetted tub was removed and replaced with a freestanding soaking tub positioned beneath the arched window, where a floor-mount chrome tub filler stands beside it. A new brass chandelier hangs above the tub, giving the space a refined, collected feel that the original room was missing entirely.

The shower was completely rebuilt with two distinct tile zones. Large format marble look porcelain tile covers the lower walls and floor-to-ceiling on the primary walls, while a glossy white beveled subway tile runs the upper portion of the shower walls in a stacked pattern. The shower floor is a penny round mosaic in soft gray tones. A corner shelf, recessed niche, and chrome fixtures complete the shower.

The floor throughout the entire bathroom is large format marble look porcelain tile that ties directly into the shower walls and creates a seamless flow from one end of the room to the other.
