Guest Bathroom Remodel | Orlando, FL

This guest bathroom on Osceola Avenue in Orlando had a shower that felt like a cave. The original build had a header framing the shower opening that cut the ceiling line and made the whole space feel low and closed in, and the tile inside was dated in both color and layout. The rest of the bathroom had the same problem -- dark paint, a tile-topped vanity countertop, and a framed mirror that made the room feel smaller and heavier than it needed to be. Everything came out.

The shower was rebuilt without the header, opening the entry to the full ceiling height and immediately changing how the space reads. Carrara marble tile covers every wall surface floor to ceiling in large format pieces with natural gray veining that runs through each slab. The shower floor is a smaller Carrara marble mosaic tile set on the diagonal, and the drain cover is brushed gold to match the rest of the fixture package. A recessed niche is set into the side wall for storage, and a built-in bench runs along the back wall, tiled in the same Carrara marble as the walls and floor. The frameless glass enclosure has brushed gold hardware throughout and no visible header at the top, keeping the ceiling line clean and uninterrupted.

The fixture package is all brushed gold -- a wall-mount rain head, a hand shower on a slide bar, and a single control valve, all in a warm gold finish that sits beautifully against the cool white and gray of the marble. A brushed gold bidet attachment was also added at the toilet, and the toilet itself was replaced with a new pedestal-style unit that fits the cleaner aesthetic of the finished room.

The bathroom floor outside the shower is Carrara marble tile set in a herringbone pattern, which is not a layout you see often in a guest bath and that is exactly what makes it memorable. A custom marble base trim runs the perimeter of the room in place of standard painted baseboard, tying the floor material directly into the wall and giving the whole room a level of finish that carries through every detail.

The before and after on this bathroom is significant. The same footprint, the same bones, and a result that looks like an entirely different home.
