Kitchen Remodel Orlando, FL

This Dover Shores kitchen remodel is a story about honoring a home while completely transforming it. The original kitchen hadn't been touched since it was built, a fully intact 1950s time capsule complete with a pink wall oven, a matching pink cooktop with metal trim edging along the countertops, a pink double sink, original checkerboard vinyl floors, and a soffit running all the way around the room dropping the ceiling down and making the space feel closed off and impossibly small. Every inch of it came out.

But this home had something worth keeping. The original terrazzo floors ran throughout the house, flecked with color including hints of the same pink that defined the old kitchen. Rather than cover them up, we polished the terrazzo and left it in place. It became the bridge between what the house was and what it is becoming. It is a detail that takes confidence to commit to, and it paid off completely.

With the soffit gone, the ceiling opened up and gave us room to run custom Bridgewood cabinetry in a rich dark walnut tone with flat panel doors and matte black hardware floor to ceiling, a clean uninterrupted wall of storage that would not have been possible before. The layout was reconfigured to maximize every inch of the space, and the result is a kitchen that finally feels open, functional, and connected to the rest of the home.

The countertops and full-height backsplash are the same continuous slab of white quartz with subtle veining, seamless from the countertop surface straight up the wall with no grout lines and no interruption. It is a stark and intentional contrast against the dark cabinetry that makes both elements stronger. Under-cabinet lighting runs the full length of the countertop and highlights the stone.

A Bosch 800 Series 30-inch industrial style induction range sits center stage beneath an XO 30-inch wall chimney hood, replacing the original pink appliances with a full suite of professional-grade stainless steel. The package was completed with a Bosch 800 Series 36-inch French door counter-depth refrigerator and a Bosch 800 Series pocket handle dishwasher, a cohesive high-performance appliance package that matches the quality of everything else in this kitchen.

This is one of those projects where the before and after photos barely feel like the same room, and that is exactly what a remodel should feel like.
