Primary Bathroom Remodel | Orlando, FL
This primary bathroom remodel in Orlando started with a shower that felt completely closed in. It was fully walled off with a single door and a dropped ceiling that made the space feel tight and confined, limiting both light and usability.
We took this bathroom all the way down to the block and studs and rebuilt it with a different approach. Instead of working around the existing layout, we focused on opening up the space and improving how the room functions day to day.
To do that, we extended the shower by taking space from the adjacent closet, gaining an extra foot and creating room for a built-in bench. The original full-height wall was converted into a half wall with glass above, which immediately changed the feel of the room by allowing more light in and opening up the sight lines.
Midway through the project, we ran into a structural challenge. The plumbing vent stack ran directly through the new wall layout. To keep everything clean and intentional, we built a bump-out to carry the stack without compromising the design or function of the space.
The finishes were kept clean and consistent, with large format wall tile, a hex mosaic shower floor for texture and grip, and a frameless glass enclosure that keeps the space open. Every detail works together to support the layout instead of competing with it.
This project is a clear example of how opening up a confined space and making the right structural changes can completely transform how a bathroom feels and functions.
