Boys Baseball Bedroom Remodel Winter Park, FL
This Winter Park bedroom started as a standard guest room with flat walls, a basic ceiling, and nothing that made it feel like anything in particular. The goal was to turn it into a space that a kid would actually want to live in, one built around a real theme executed with enough craft and intention that it feels designed rather than decorated.
The focal point of the room is a full wall vintage baseball mural that runs the entire length of the back wall from floor to ceiling. It depicts a classic ballpark scene in a sepia-toned illustrative style, with players on the field and a packed stadium in the background, the kind of image that looks like it was pulled from the archives of the early twentieth century game. It is not a decal and it is not printed on cheap vinyl. It is a proper wallpaper mural installed with tight seams and no visible breaks, and it gives the room an anchor that everything else builds around.
The ceiling was transformed with acoustic slat paneling installed across the entire surface, a material that brings warmth, texture, and sound absorption into a room that would otherwise feel like a box. The slatted finish runs wall to wall and gives the space a custom built quality that you do not get from paint alone. A new flush mount light fixture with a matching slatted metal drum shade was installed at center, tying the ceiling treatment and the lighting together into a single cohesive detail. The ventilation grates were also updated to match, the kind of finish work that most people overlook but that makes the difference between a room that feels complete and one that does not.
The walls were painted in a deep muted blue-gray that works with the tones in the mural without competing with it, and the checker-pattern carpet adds a vintage sport energy to the floor that connects to the overall theme without being heavy-handed. Two sets of bunk beds line the walls on either side of the room, giving the space a camp-style sleeping layout that kids love, with built-in drawer storage integrated into each unit.
Every detail in this room was chosen to serve the theme without tipping into novelty. The baseball-shaped accent chair, the layered textiles, the warm wood tones against the dark walls and ceiling -- it all holds together because the foundation was done right. This is what a kids room looks like when it is treated with the same level of care as every other space in the house.
