Primary Bathroom Remodel | Winter Park, FL
This primary bathroom in Winter Park is a good example of something that comes up more often than people expect -- a higher end neighborhood with a home that still has builder grade finishes in the bathrooms. The shower in this room was small and cheap, a plastic tub surround shell that had no business being in a home like this. The space where the shower now sits was the original tub location, and the original shower footprint was absorbed into the new layout to give the room significantly more usable space. Everything came out and got rebuilt the right way.
The new shower is large format white subway tile floor to ceiling on all three walls, laid in a clean running bond pattern that keeps the space feeling bright and open. The shower floor is a white marble hexagon mosaic with a matte black drain, and a wide recessed niche is built into the shower wall and backed with the same marble hex tile, giving the storage shelf a material contrast that adds detail without adding complexity. A brushed gold wall-mount shower head handles the fixture, and the frameless glass enclosure is fitted with a matte black header bar and matte black hardware throughout, a combination that works cleanly against the all-white tile and the warm gold of the fixtures.
The double vanity is a deep navy shaker cabinet with a mix of matte black and brushed gold hardware, topped with a white quartz countertop and two undermount sinks. Brushed gold single-handle faucets sit at each sink, and two black-framed rounded rectangle mirrors are mounted above with globe pendant light bars in warm gold providing task lighting at each side. The contrast between the dark vanity cabinet and the bright white quartz and white tile behind the shower is one of the details that makes this bathroom feel designed rather than assembled.
The floor throughout is LVP in a warm natural wood tone that keeps the room from feeling too cool and ties the bathroom back to the rest of the home. In a room with this much white tile it provides exactly the warmth the space needs to feel complete.
This is the kind of remodel that a neighborhood like this deserves. The bones were always there. It just needed someone to follow through on the finish work.
