lake cawood kitchen
This Windermere kitchen refresh proves that you don't always need to tear everything out to completely change how a kitchen feels. The existing wall cabinetry was in great shape — white shaker style with glass-front upper cabinets and crown molding details — so we kept it and built the transformation around it.
The countertops and backsplash were replaced with the same continuous slab of stone — a bright white with subtle veining that runs from the countertop surface straight up the wall behind the cooktop without interruption. The effect is seamless and dramatically cleaner than what was there before. Under-cabinet lighting illuminates the full length of the run and highlights the stone beautifully.
The biggest change was the island. The original island was removed and rebuilt larger, now featuring a full waterfall edge on one end with mitered edges along the perimeter — a detail that makes the stone feel intentional and architectural rather than simply functional. The island base was clad in rift cut white oak, a warm natural wood tone that contrasts against the painted wall cabinets and grounds the entire space.
New globe pendant lights on aged brass hardware hang above the island, completing the updated look without overpowering the clean, light palette throughout.
The gas cooktop was removed during the countertop installation and reinstalled in its original position — a small detail that required precision and care to get right.
